Bizzy Bees Curriculum
Our Curriculum
At Bizzy Bees we followed the EYFS and the 7 areas of learning throughout our setting.
We have also devised our own curriculum intent which runs alongside termly curriculum plans that take into account the seasons, festivals and learning opportunities in the specific terms.
We intend that our ambitious and inclusive curriculum educates all the children in knowledge, skills and understanding, to be effective, inquisitive, curious, independent learners and influence their wider thinking across all areas of the curriculum.

Early Talk Boost

East Goscote Village Hall

Communication Toolkit
We have staff trained to deliver this preschool-based programme for children aged 3 and 4 with delayed language development. The structured 9-week intervention is led by our trained early years practitioners in small groups, providing 15–20 minute sessions three times a week to support and enhance children’s communication and language skills.
We hire the village hall once a week to support children’s gross motor development through sports, music, and movement activities, linking to the Physical Development area of the EYFS. The larger space allows for active play, coordination, and confidence-building. Our curriculum is further enriched by visiting professionals, including Aarti Dance, Kimbles Music and Movement, and Super Star Sports.
We use the Speech, Language and Communication Toolkit to identify and assess the communication needs of our preschool children. The toolkit supports us in creating targeted plans for individual children and provides session plans to help deliver high-quality early interventions, ensuring every child receives the support they need to develop their communication skills.

Bee Explorers (Forest School-Inspired Learning)
Children take part in our Bee Explorers sessions, which provide a forest school-style experience within our on-site allotment. Each child is given four dedicated sessions per term, allowing them to build confidence and familiarity with the environment.
These sessions support children to:
-
Develop resilience, independence and risk-taking skills
-
Strengthen physical development through climbing, digging and exploring
-
Build curiosity and a connection to the natural world
-
Enhance communication and teamwork through shared experiences
Bee Explorers plays a key role in supporting children’s wellbeing and personal development, particularly within the Prime Areas.

Library Visits & Rhyme Time
We work closely with our local library, regularly borrowing books to enrich our curriculum and promote a love of reading.
Children are invited monthly to take part in Romp and Rhyme sessions at the library, where they experience:
-
Singing, rhymes and storytelling
-
Exposure to rich language and new vocabulary
-
Early literacy skills in a real-life context
These experiences help to build children’s confidence, listening skills and enjoyment of books, supporting strong foundations in Communication and Language and Literacy.
